Chief Red Cloud (5 yr), Apache (2 yr), Pardon (5 yr)
Lauren Vincent

I heard an ad on the radio about a wild horse adoption coming to Beaumont, TX. I told my husband I wanted to go and see them. We went after work to preview them and then I got excited about adopting one! I had one picked out and a couple of back-ups just in case. I knew the minute I saw him, he was for me! He is a strawberry roan with a tri colored mane (matched my hair!).

We went back the next day for the adoption, trailer in tow .... he was coming home with me! No one bid on him and I took him home along with a "brother" for my husband. That afternoon I was brushing him while he chewed on hay .... he was a yearling. I told my husband I wanted one that would grow up with me.

We bonded so wonderfully and I love my little guy so much. All I have to do is walk to the pasture, call his name, he picks up his head and starts coming to me. I never have to chase him down! Red Cloud has given me his whole heart and I gave him mine .... I even put socks on his ears last year to see if he would mind being a reindeer for Christmas! He didn't care at all .... We waited until they were 3 yrs to saddle train them. Talk about one of the easiest things I've ever done! He accepted everything and his first "road trip" was to the beach!

I sent our picture to Monty Roberts and we were featured in his Join-Up Journal riding on the beach! I was a little apprehensive since there were no fences to "hold us in" at the beach, but he behaved like a perfect gentleman! He is now the horse I use to buddy up to any other mustangs we adopt and to help them get accepted into our herd! He is my first mustang and will always have a special place in my heart .....
